Frequently Asked Questions
How is Mindful Motion different from Tai Chi and Yoga?
In Mindful Motion, the sessions are not run in a class format so the emphasis is not on teaching and trying to move accurately and correctly. While it is ideal if you follow the positions and movements precisely, the key goal of each session is relaxation through the enjoyment of movement.
How is Mindful Motion different to meditation and Mindfulness?
Although there is some (standing) meditation, you will spend more of your time moving around the room in different stances or stretches. The emphasis is more on focusing on your movement than visualisations or your thoughts.
It is a great alternative for those who find it hard to sit still in silence.
How suitable is Mindful Motion for a beginner who is new to things like Yoga or meditation?
It is very suitable for a beginner. There are very few specialist terms used and anyone of any fitness level can participate. You can even practice Mindful Motion sitting in a chair.
Mindful Motion Plus is aimed at the intermediate participant looking to take their practice to the next level.
